FALL SEMINAR SESSIONS

Brown & Clark as Applied to Kentucky Boundaries
Saturday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Presenter – Jonathan Payne, PLS
4 CPD Hours

A four hour professional development course exploring how the frequently used introductory text for boundary surveying, Brown's Boundary Control and Legal Principles, and another commonly referenced text, Clark on Boundaries and Surveying, aligns with existing Kentucky case law as researched through the book Commonwealth of Kentucky Case Law for Land Boundary Issues.  Also briefly explored will be methods to research case law either through Google Scholar or through the Harvard Law School CaseLaw Access Project website.

Brown & Clark as Applied to Kentucky Boundaries Part 2
Saturday, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Presenter – Jonathan Payne, PLS
4 CPD Hours

This four hour professional development course continues the exploration of how the texts Brown's Boundary Control and Legal Principles and Clark on Surveying and Boundaries aligns with existing case law in Kentucky as pulled from the KAPS publication Commonwealth of Kentucky Case Law for Land Boundary Issues.  Since this and the earlier portion are published as stand alone units, we will also revisit accessing case law through Google and the Case Law Access Project.  Having reviewed many Kentucky cases, we'll also consider the words of Justice Cooley in light of what we have seen in Kentucky law.
